Top 5 Locations in Colorado Springs for Senior Portraits

Updated: May 14

Over the last few years, I have really grown to love the beauty that Colorado has to offer. I've always been a nature lover, and photography has been an incredible way to utilize my insatiable curiosity and observation skills and put them to good use. I've also learned where some cool off-the-beaten-path spots are that can help you with some truly unique photos. This article is what I would call a "teaser" since there are too many lovely places to list! Also, choosing a location for a client often depends on the personality, interests, and aesthetics they are seeking. TIP: I recommend thinking about the color scheme you have in your home or the other artwork you have on your walls, and try

coordinating the location to match.

  1. CHEYENNE CANYON

    [RUSTIC - BOLD]

There are numerous trails, creeks, bridges, and

waterfalls, along with stunning views of the city. If you are looking to capture lots of green trees and want to splash in the creek, this

mountain top location is a dream.

2. GARDEN OF THE GODS

[MAJESTIC - ICONIC LANDSCAPE]

The stunning red rocks contrasted with the snow-capped Pikes Peak truly capture the best of both worlds in the Springs. It is the adventure lover's playground with so many trails and unique rock formations to climb. This is a popular spot for weddings, family, and

senior photos.

3. RED ROCK CANYON OPEN SPACE

[TALL GRASS - TREES]

Beautiful meadows and grasslands surround you with just a taste of red rocks. There is also a reflective pond for another lovely scene.

This location is especially beautiful during fall with tall

aspens aglow.

4. MONUMENT VALLEY PARK

[SCENIC TRANQUILITY]

This park runs along a large creek in downtown Colorado Springs. It has nearby botanical gardens, lush green lawns, and mature trees. There is also an interesting cobblestone bridge that is atop an old waterfall. This is a great spot in the spring and summer.

5. UTE VALLEY PARK

[RUGGED - SCENIC LIMESTONE]

This park has a rugged and natural charm with some dramatic white rock formations but also a large meadow and bulrushes surrounding a wooden bridge. This park has a fantastic

panoramic view of the city.

BONUS

DOWNTOWN COLORADO SPRINGS

[URBAN]

Colorado Springs has so much to offer from the Penny Arcade in

Manitou to the sleek and modern Olympic Museum Bridge. There are lots of little pull-outs and colorful places for capturing seniors to couples as well as creating an interesting

background for all seasons. Capture your senior's unique personality with a colorful backdrop and fun prop. Go from casual to classy too.
